Anyone have any suggestions? I plan on making my own version of hog proof feeders and then tying to make my own deer feed mix. Right now I will mix corn alfalfa and some type of salt. Really not sure on a mix yet. You read so many different things.

Include sugar everything is made with salt give em something sweet.
I do mix my protiene I mix Antler King with cottonseed meal they love it.

I usually just do corn and protein. I use a concrete mixer on a 1/2" cordless drill to stir it up. I put a salt lick off to the side near the feeder.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

is sugar good for them? I'm really looking to make a mix that's really healthy for them. From helping the doe's produce more milk to helping promote antler growth. I don't plan on adding any sugar. A mineral block is a good idea. I think I would like to figure a way to add apple if anything. Thats what brought the Deer in my area to begin with. But chopping up apples every time I go out gets old.

By the way, I don't buy the deer mineral blocks. I just get the one used for livestock. Took them a while to get used to it but now they go to it pretty regular. Plus it's cheaper and lasts a long time.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

if you can find some good clover bales it may be a bit cheaper than alfalfa

By the time you run all over the country buying things to mix in the feed and have the deer pick out the ones they like out of the mix you would be cheaper buying a ready made deer pellet with minerals/vitamins added into it.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Dobbins delight apple and oat horse treats 5#s berry flavored corn nuggets from record rack 5#s and corn 5#s. Put it out then hunt that area the next day. Seems to be doing the trick for us this season and last. hard to get the big bucks to come to any food right now chasing hard. But the does are eating it and the bucks are looking for does so yeah. I get the Dobbins and record rack at tractor supply and the apple flavored corn at wall mart.
