This was my first time to duck hunt and it started out bad. I did not have anyone to hunt with and I went out to hunt alone. I got to the type two hunting land where I was going to hunt and there was no one ells there. I got my stuff setup and went to put out decoys and got stuck in the mud and started sinking. I was scared with no one ells out there It took a lot but I got out and back to the bank and was packing up to go home when two guys pulled up on a four wheeler. I told them about what had happened and that I was going to throw in the towel. They encouraged me to not give up. They asked me if I would like to hunt with them and maybe we could turn a bad experience in to a good one. To make a long story short I hunted with them and it was a blast. Lots of ducks come in and I made three new friends. I am hunting with them next week.

Congrats on some birds and cool story. After all the bad ones we hear about some of the junk that can go on out there this was a positive situation. We need more hunters and it sounds like you're hooked!

Glad to hear someone helped you out. Keep those people close because it seems like there are less and less people (especially duck hunters) like that.

Good Hunt! Pretty birds.

Getting stuck in the mud happens and sounds like you handled it well. Keep On Ducking

I would like to say thank you to all of you guys here for the encouragement to follow a lifelong dream to duck hunt. I am 52 and have wanted to do this from the time I was 8 years old just never seemed to be the right time or so I thought. Thanks to all of you who share the sport and knowledge. That is what it is all about.

I wasn't all sunshine and buttercups when I first started duck hunting either. I too started out alone, setting up dekes, driving out early, afraid a yetti was gonna get me at 5 am. About my second or third hunt I met some local hunters that first season. Hunted with them that morning and a couple of times throughout the season. Now I hunt with them every season.........

Glad things turned out good...

Waders getting sucked down in the mud is a scary event.
