My food plots in Houston County are hanging on a thread right now. They've had just one moderate shower since I planted back in early October. The oats and peas are up, but man, they sure could use some rain.

I hope the forecast for plenty of rain next week rings true.

Mine are still kinda OK. Glad I didn't plant really heavy. Dang glad that I don't fertilize.

We had a little rain last night in Crockett, not enought to really matter, but it was better than nothing. Mine are doing ok, they look good from a distance, but when you get close it is not thick enough to cover the ground.

It is about 50%. The half close to the creek is pretty low and stays wet for a while but the other half is very sparse.

Cattle got to mine first and then the lack of rain, still have a little green left but not much. 40% chance today turned out to be a hail mary.

Dan, you ever been to the little all you can eat cafe on 19 near the loop on the north side of town, can't remember the name, if not it kicks arse! You me and Helo should meet up there some time for lunch.

I've a two acre that's doing well. Then I have a couple of quarter acre plots off the river. The one in the sun is poor and the one in the shade is doing pretty good.

No, but I've heard good things about it. I believe it used to be called something different if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, we can meet on Friday or Saturdaty around noon for lunch and see how many deer we can kill around the table.

Not enough, maybe a 1/2 inch. I don't think it is over with thought. The sky looks dark all around and the wind is blowing hard.

That's better than nothing, hopefully get some more this afternoon. Have you gotten any pics of pigs in the new trap?

We are supposed to have a good chance of rain all week long.

My food plot (or what little it offers for deer right now) isn't being hit much either. I did have two small bucks come through the area last Friday morning. However, they obviously had other things (breeding) on their mind besides stopping for a bite. That's sure to change once the acorns are gone and the rut begins to wind down.

As for winter peas, the deer always seem to get mine before they get one or two inches tall. That is, when they have enough rain to grow.
