Unless they're around the house, barn, etc I don't bother them.

I tried frying one I caught and it tasted like ($Y#. It was a young snake and I may not have prepared it correctly. If i do it again I'll try an older larger snake. I usually let em go if they arent around camp.

I leave them be unless around camp or a ground blind. Every so often I will skin, gut, and debone a snake. It has to be a medium or bigger sized snake otherwise there is just not enough meat. Braise it in a white wine sauce and serve it up as an appetiser before dinner.

there is a market for the big ones, 5 foot and up. You get one of the 5 plus footers you call us. But there cannot be any damage on the skin and we prefer them alive. We have an enclosure where we keep them.
