Heading up there thrusday night to hunt thru thanksgiving. Was up there this past weekend, just south of the collingsworth county line in far north childress county. I agree that is was way to hot and windy. Combine that with a full moon, and it was tough hunting. However, the bucks are starting to get testy and the young-uns are chasing the does. I think the cool weather late this week will kick-start the rut!

I did get this crappy deer out of the gene pool this past friday. Aged at 6.5 at weighed just over 200 lbs live weight.

Good luck to you and your daughter this week BMD! I hope to see you posting about a big one!

Supposed to snow next week before Thanksgiving. I will be up or over the 22nd thru the 2nd and the weather is looking promising which has not happened in the last couple of years. Good luck.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Thanks for sharing, BMD! I was beginning to think that maybe your stand had blown over with you in it. That would have been a shame since you're one of my best scouts.

The pics are great. Looks like you've got an 8 there that's been roughed up quite a bit. Looks like some blood above the left shoulder. Looks like he may still learn a lesson or two the way he carries himself.

Nice deer, Shag. Great mass! We've got one like that running around that's not quite as heavy. Really wide with nothing on top. Since it's a one buck county, he'll probably die of old age.

Herron and House,

We have the good fortune of being able to kill a nice management buck on our place and still have a shot at a trophy since we are MLD. We all agree on management bucks for the year, and whoever happens to see them gets to shoot them.

This guy frequented my area quite a bit, so the odds were high I would get to shoot him this year. Believe it or not, with his spread, mass and beam length, that buck scored 127. His mass really is great, and I am very proud of him. I don't want it to come across as if I am not.

I am just happy to have his genetics out of the gene-pool since he is lacking in the tine length department.

Why don't you bring Kacee down one night next week? We can sear some steaks or burgers or I'll whip up a pot of chili. We'll be there all week and hopefully find Matt a buck! up
