Get this, on saturday morning i saw a truck come down our private road and park in the driveway of my friends place that borders mine, i then saw a flash light, and someone walking through the brush and stop at a blind. my friend wasnt gonna hunt this past weekend, so i thought he might have changed his mind. when it got light i could see that the truck wasnt his or anyone's that i know. so i called the gw to investigate, i was told by the gw that if the property owner doesnt call himself he would not come out. i told him that this person does not have permission to hunt, my friend told me to keep an eye out because no one was suppose to hunt last weekend, he said he wasnt coming until the land owner called. I called my friend and told him what was going on and gave him the number to the gw. the gw asked him if he was sure that someone was on his place because he lives 200 mile away, how does he know. after a heated exchange the gw agreed to come out. thank god i called the s.o. because the gw never showed up, the guy was caught by the way. my friend called the gw back and asked why he didnt show and he said "i just dont have time, i have more important things to do than drive around the country side!" what the hell. now i know why there is a poaching problem in crockett co. by the way i contacted the gw in pacos co. (irran) and he said he was sorry to hear it and to call him next time and he will show up.

Sounds like a good time to call Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement - Major David Sinclair - Austin HQ (512) 389-4381 and let him follow up with what sounds like a gw that doesn't want to do his job.

I see them there alot when we go into town. The new guy seems like he is on the ball. We talked him last year about the poaching going on at our place and we have seen him driving aroud the area alot.

yes, he told me that i could call him anytime day or night and he would come out. we talked to about 7 property owners and all have the same complaint about the crockett co gw. the weekend before season 1 property owner was out and he saw someone spot lighting down the private road, he called the gw and was told that he wouldnt come out because he didnt know whow was supposed to be out there and he didnt have time for a wild goose chase.

I agree....but they are state employees who are there to serve US and should be held accountable for the job they do, GOOD OR BAD!

I've met one GW like that in all my years and if I'm not mistaken he was moved to desk work because of all the complaints that were issued on him. Sorry to hear about this incident you had and all I can say is file a formal complaint with his superior. I'd find out which Captain he answers to and start there. If that doesn't work, then go above the Captain to the State office and file a complaint.
The Wardens I know would have busted their A$$ES to get to that place with a phone call like that. They live for catching poachers in the act and would have had a field day with this moron that came on your buddy's place.
All people have good days and bad but if there were that many landowners complaining about this same GW, that is a different story. You guys need to all get together and make sure that each and every one of you files a complaint. If he's not doing the job he's being paid for they need to send him to early retirement. Sorry, but when you get sworn in as a Texas GW, you are on the clock 24/7, 365 days a year! If the public calls, you get your A$$ there and investigate and so be it if it ends up being a wild goose chase!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
