I live in lewisville And was looking for the nearest place to site in a rifle. I have driven by what I think is a range at Fm 1171 and 35W just north of Texas Motor Speedway I dont remember the name of the place does anybody have any info on this place or others. You are talking about Quail Creek.(Public).
There is also range @ 635 & Luna Road. (public) I think it is still called Winchester. Prone to flooding!! but nice
Alpine Gun Range and supplies in SE Fort Worth.(Public)

Elm Fork Northwest Hwy and Luna Rd (used to be called Winchester)
Backwoods is closing down for development
Apline is a great range if you want to go all the way down there.

Lots of development going on around them, but methinks Backwoods Traps still very much in operation. At least they were today when I called and sent some other rifle shooters their way.

Ther is another gun range on hiway380 east of McKinny, Collin county range or something like that. Maybe some one else here can help better.

Backwoods is a good place. Haven't been there in a few years.
When he was young, I told Dale Jr. that hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you better be responsible.

Collin Cty gun range ain't a bad place and the
folks that work there seem good. They are plaqued
by attempts to close them down by the neighboring
developements. Restrictive shooting times is just
one of the things forced on them. I've gone there
quite a few times just to support their cause.
Sadly, I don't feel good about their chances in
the long run. Hope I'm wrong.
Not to hi-jack the thread but I'm interested in
finding a >100 yrd range. Backwoods is a good
place to shoot but has the 100 yrd limit.

finding a >100 yrd range  Arlington Gun Club (in Mansfield)and Haltom City (121 & Carsons Road )Gun Club both have 300yd range but they are a long ways for you and are also membership only clubs

300 yard range? That sounds great! I posted a question a month ago asking if any 300 yard ranges were operating around the DFW area and no one knew of any. Do you have a phone number by chance?
