I have had awful luck with my Sportdog collars recently.
Last year in Kansas, one collars and my tranmitter died. I replaced/fixed them. This past weekend in Kansas, I noticed that Izzy was heeling a lot and kept being a boot licker. I couldn't figure it out. Then I saw that my transmitter was continually zapping her. Luckily I had an older working transmitter that I could finish the hunt with.
I just called Sport dog and they can't do anything about it. The unit had a 2 year warranty, but since they sold it to me after it was discontinued it only had a 90 day warranty. I can replace the units for a discounted rate of $490. What a freaking deal.

Sorry to hear that. I was considering the sportsdog with beeper mainly because of the dial and the price.
Now I may need to fork over the cash for the TriTronics upland...or maybe the Dogtra 2500TB if I want to keep the price reasonable. Just dont like the dials on the dogtras.

CC does that have a beeper?
When it works, I really like my collar. I am going to have to look for a used transmitter because I don't want to throw away my 2 collars and 2 beepers because the transmitter is broken.

No beeper. I hate those things LOL. We have the Garmins mounted to the collars though.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I opened the tranmitter up and the nick button is broken. It is a spring loaded button on the circuit board. The spring part is broken so it just wobbles around in there and makes contact which zaps the dog.

Anyway you can make the nick button inoperative?
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

That sucks... Least you had back up! I use Aetertek, was gift from wife. Has beep vibration and shock " variable" and waterproof with up to 3 collars Had it 2 years, used it for training at 1st.... This is 1st yr in field and seems to work great so far. does seem to have an extended delay time but for under $150, off eBay.... Worth every penny
On another note, with soldering iron you could remove the button from board if it's not needed

I have thought about trying to remove the switch. I wish I could find someone that knew how to fix them. Collar Clinic doesn't work on Sportsdog collars.

Not a bad deal for someone needing a basic collar or a backup. I noticed right now they also give you a $10 gift card and free shipping.
