does anyone know if we got down to freezing temps in the kendalia/blanco area? the acorn crop was thick, hopefully this weeks temps helped. I'll be heading out tomorrow to try to get one!

trying to top the deer from last year.

First things first, I can't believe you are finding time to go hunting! What with all jet setting across the big pond, tending to your girlfriend, and of course that tough course load, you are lucky to find time to go hunting! As for temperatures, I had 21 this morning on my truck thermometer. 23 yesterday. Garden froze solid and all is wilted. Too bad you couldn't make it south with us one weekend but I understand you are a busy man! I'll be right down the road,if you need me to come kill your deer for, you.

Where off of crabapple? My dad has a place at the top of the biggest hill on crabapple.
The acorns are real thick at our place and the deer are letting the corn pile up.

welcome to the forum

Is that my first post? I'm not much on posting on forums but I thought for sure I'd posted on here before. Been lurking for many years for sure. Ironic that I open a thread and know the poster and it's his first post as well. I promise we didn't plan that!

Man you have to be real close to us. Who are your neighbors? You can PM me if you don't want to tell it in public. I don't recognize your last name (I don't run around over there that much anymore though). My dads place is across from the Vogts, Schwabbs and on the other side of us is a man with the last name Kennedy.

He's between 1888 & 473 on crabapple. Not old blanco rd direction like your inlaws. There's some pretty nice land out where he's at, I don't know exactly where he is but pretty dang close.

I am looking for land in that area. There is a sign for a ranch at 473/474, but the realtor at the number listed doesn't seem to respond left messages.

I really love the area. When I drive to Boerne, instead of taking the quick route into SA, I always detour from Blanco and take the park road/old blanco/473/474 - best part of the trip for me. Seen all sorts of critters, besides WT and axis frequently, seen free range fallow of all colors, a few Sika, and a I swear an oryx last year.

Once late at night I had to slow down to 20mph because there were deer every 150-200 yards on the road almost all the way. It was crazy. Stopped counting after 100

I hunt about 2 miles from Crabapple Rd. and I would have fallen out of the blind if I saw a big buck like that. The biggest we have seen on the game cameras and in person is now where close to that one.
