Anyone have a method? My female is turning out awesome. She is a hell of a mouser as well. I do run her with an ecollar.

More birds!

Is she whistle broke? If she is, give her the toot-toot and tap the tone button. If not just ignore her and call her on. They get bored with shortage of a birds to point, she'll grow out of it in time with your not acknowledging her. In other words ( You should be able to tell if she has a bird or a mouse by her body language. Don't go in there trying to flush a bird if she has a mouse).

I also use a "OFF" command.

You should always be able to break your dog off if you need to (whistle or voice command).

They will eventually learn, but like txdogman said, they get bored.

She knows leave it....and I know the difference between her getting birdie and a mouse...usually I will break her off of it by giving a directional command.

To add to it...she will lock up on point with birds...mice she will catch and chew on

E collar correction higher than normal Pup will associate the trash with the correction. Keep simulating unti pup backs off and don't say anything

Yeah that's the way we always trash broke them from running deer...just was curious of everyone else's approach

As scarce as quail have been and good mess of fried mouse is not bad.
