Went out today got in the field about an hour before sun up jumped 3 deer driving in..
Spent till noon running from a skunk literally... late this evening had a wide 8 come walking through just below the hill I am sitting on. Evaluation of his rack looked good have a shooter, got steady and breathing was under control start to squeeze the trigger and the buck literally stops dead in his slow walk the bullet splashed down right in front of him and by the time I get the bolt opened and rammed back home he decided to kick it up to warp speed.. I walked the area just to double check no blood no hair..

After all this I can't wait to go again, and to boot the worst day hunting is better than the best day at work!!!!

Don't worry we all miss a deer at some point , I missed a nice 9 point last week myself my son shot a spike this week end and he was just starting to rut so this week end should be good .Good luck .

Bucks are rutting hard in Lipan right now so you should still see alot.
