Planning on heading to the lease this weekend, was wondering how the hunting has been the past 2 weeks? Are the bucks starting to rut and chase doe's? Was out there opening weekend, seen plenty of deer but no shooter bucks. Hopefully this cooler weather that is moving in will get the big boys that I have camera moving.

Hunted Ozona for 12 years and our rut was always thanksgiving time. Great deer out there.

I gotta agree with the previous posters. I have a lease in NW Crockett country, about 30 miles NW of Ozona. Last year the rut really did not start until early December. Thanksgiving into early December tends to be the time the deer are moving.

We are about 20 miles west of Ozona off of Howard Draw Road. This is my 1st year on the lease. I will be out there Thanksgiving weekend as well. How is rattling for bucks out there? Is it pretty affective when the rut is on?

Rut will start around thanksgiving (this year its later so I would be out the week before too and possibly more action around Christmas or week before.
