I thought I would post a few pics up and see what kind of ideas others may have to add to this. I started with a 5x9 trailer. Bench dimensions are 32"x9ft.

I have tin on order for the roof as well as 3ft fold down awnings on both sides. Roof will be 7'5" from the floor of the trailer.

I am going to add 2 fold down jacks in the rear for leveling/stability purposes.

If anyone can think of any other ideas I could add to this I would appreciate it!

I like it. Is the tin roof going to be OK if you pull it down the highway?

I'm planning on building a pretty strong square tubing frame for the roof so it I'm sure it will be fine. Similar to bbq smoker trailers with tin roofs. 1.5"x 1/4" square tubing frame.



Thanks, it's really just to be able to haul it around from place to place and still have a nice comfortable bench wherever you go. I plan on mostly target shooting off of it but I already have an itch to enclose the walls and make it a usable ground blind as well. Not sure which route to go yet.

Got the main roof framing done and screwed the tin down. Need to go back and brace it, do the awnings, and trim one side of the tin.

That is awesome. Only thing I would recommend is add jacks to the 4 corners to get it level and to add some stabilization.

Now you're ready for some PD blastin'! I'm sure you have your reasons, but why are the 2 chairs skewed to the left side?

I've seen some outfitted PD hunts where they did something similar, but on a 20' flat bed trailer. Six chairs/shooters going at once...

How does that fixed roof do in the wind?

I did the chairs offset like that so I can build a wide platform bench seat on the right side in case someone couldn't get comfortable on the swivel chairs. I know the swivels are somewhat stationary so I figured I would need something more adjustable. We will see as we go though, this went from an idea of just a bench on a trailer to having a tin roof/awnings. At this point insulated walls and central heat/air aren't out of the picture haha.




Right now I have a little side to side flex but my plan is to gusset all the corners at 45* angles and go from there.


On another note, now I'm wondering how to insulate the underside of the tin roof. I may use spray insulation and then board/cover the ceiling to help deaden the sound a bit.

Any ideas?

Nice work.... hard to judge by the pics, but the roof looks a little high... I'd bring it down some and add walls with flip up panels (plexiglass maybe?) all the way around, and make it a blind also....Too nice just to set in the corner til you feel like target practice.....

Looks great. Only thing that comes to mind is that the chairs could be adjustable height. I would make it a blind too for sure.

Strange no one brought up how loud a tin roof is. We have them at the Gun Club and deaf as I am I have to keep the plugs in. Try egg cartons cheap and they'll reduce noise a lot.

Yeah that's part of the reason I have the roof at 7' high, figured the sound wouldn't be as bad. I'm definitely going to look into quieting down the tin. I think I'm going to spray foam insulate under the tin then burn/seal some pine boards, like I did for the bench top, to cover up the ceiling. I'd do the awnings the same.

I euthanized a Ram under a feedlot pen with a about a 12-14' tin roof with my 45 once. My ears were ringing for 3 days. I have never heard my 45 sound so loud.

I now ALWAYS wear hearing protection.

Got a few things done lately, sorry for the lack of updates. Anyways the awnings are on, small seating bench built, rear jacks are welded on. I need to put a few more screws in the tin and mount my new tires then I'll be ready to start enjoying it!

That is something. Sure would be handy to have.
