Went out to some public land that me and a buddy got limits on opening morning. We got there about 4am set out decoys and fixed up the blind. Everything was going good had some birds flying early and thought we were gonna have the spot to our selfs. Well about 615 I hear somebody talking. 5 guys walked up on us scared off 3 ducks that we had perfect in our decoys. They set up 80 yards directly in front of us. Blew my mind! And yes I did let them know I was there but they could care less. They finally got there decoys out and settled in around 645 after a few groups flared off them. Around 7 I had a small group of blue bills come in circled my decoys and just before they landed in my decoys ww3 started with them shot all but one. I got up said a few nasty words to them and we elected to pack up before it got bad. ( I hope one of them is a member on her I'd love to meet you) this same thing happend to me on Friday at another spot so I think I'm done hunting public land gonna sit this season out. And maybe find a private pond next year I'm a little confused. Was this one of the same two hunts mentioned in your other post guided by the hungover college kids over the weekend?

when your 20 yards from my decoys directly in front of me yea I get a little mad. It's one thing to hunt on the left and right of me but directly in front of me. As far as hunting the blind I made I could care less its the fact they walk up and are throwing decoys when I have ducks trying to landed and set up right in front of me, but cant shoot cause I have 5 morons in my sights. Sounds like you might have been one of them guys directed to phat but thanks for your imput Im 50 years old. Been hunting a Public Hunting area shared by two states for 34 seasons. First of all your blind in my area would have been gone. You would not have beat me to the area. No matter where you set up you would get to watch a good duck hunt. Mine. that wasn't directed to you Yes it was, don't crawfish. Oh it's you, yep gunna crawfish.

Were they really only 80 yards? or 100? I tend to think people exaggerate how close people set up to them.

If they shot birds coming into their spread it couldn't have been too far.

this ^ 2 birds landed in my decoys not to mention when trying to retrieve it I had 2 ducks (not decoying) flying 10 ft in front but we didn't shoot. Scared i would have hit the idiot walking in front of my spread to get his ducks If they shot birds coming into their spread it couldn't have been too far.

The birds they shot were just to the left of my mojo cupped up headed straight for my landing strip when they shot 2 birds landed 5 yards in front on mojo. Also there decoys were less then 15 yards from mine

Public land is all I hunt, it's all I have ever hunted. And while it kills me to do it, it's a lot easier to invite some arse to hunt with you then to get shot or shot at because someone else has no common courtesy, common sense, or is just an idiot. Most people will happily move over to join you or allow you to join them, and avoid a pointless argument. No reason to ruin your day or someone else's. But there are ALOT OF IDIOTS on public lands so be safe. Hopefully one day I will be fortunate enough to have a private place to hunt but until then........ just my .02

If they're that close to you, the best you can do is hunt with them, not against them. You'll both kill more birds in the end
Any creature in my vicinity that possesses an explosive penis is going to be killed.
