Still empty handed.
Hunted all weekend on Spade and saw some great bucks. Didn't have time to get gun up for one of them, but nice to see.
Sunday, everyone hunts the morning and then leaves to go watch cowboys game. I'm no football fan, so I stayed to hunt the evening.
Got to my hunt location around 1:30pm after returning from Sterling City to get a bite to eat. Parked where I would park for my hunt and took a nap. Woke 1.5hrs before feeder kicked and headed to blind.... well it's full of red hornets, so forget that idea.
I hollow out a cedar bush about 20 yards behind my tower blind, throw a folding chair in there and get in... fell asleep again.
Woke up and my target buck is at this feeder. I only have him on one camera, and that's almost 3 miles away across Spade from where I am hunting. Did not expect this, but now I'm stuck. I'm behind the stand, no rest, and need to make a move without getting busted. Didn't happen. By the time I made it to my shooting position, I was way busted. Tried to settle down and get the crosshairs on the shoulder when BOOM. Very light trigger on my .25 and my glove caught it, sent the round 2 ft over the buck's back.
Buck jumps into a bush, I wait and walk up looking for blood, only to find a 135" 8point in shock, nothing wrong with him, not a scratch. Watched him get up and walk off about 800 yards. FML.

Sorry to hear that bit of news, but the good news is that you didn't have to watch the Cowboys massacre
Discipline is just choosing between what you want NOW and what you want MOST

Sounds like you need to start going to bed earlier.

Sounds like you need to start going to bed earlier. I fall asleep just after the sun goes down every night. What I NEED is hunting partners that don't come to my camper every 2 hours ALL NIGHT asking for stuff like ice or a lighter, or if I have any more 40-creek for them because they drank all of theirs. Love my sleep. Anyways, just needed to rant a bit, that is all.

In case it wasn't apparent, I'm joking.
Stuff happens to everyone. Me more than most. I put on the absolute stalk of a lifetime a few years back. Crawled almost 400 yards and got to within 70 yards, completely unnoticed.
Crosshairs on the vitals, steady, steady...

Gun not loaded. Didn't bring ammo.
