Make big circles around the last place she saw it. I shot a doe opening morning that didn't bleed where I shot it, but was piled up 20 yards away. Keep looking!

I have always heard that they will head for water when injured. Not sure if that helps or not.

A blacklight makes specks of blood glow. I would get one and go to the spot the deer was hit and work slow the way he ran. Only use the blacklight. White light will kill the effect.

I actually live off that road and can come by in a bit if need be. I have a red bone coon dog who can trail but just depends if he wants to or not

I got in touch with a buddy that has a blood tracking dog about 30 minutes away from you and passed your number along through a text no telling if he is still awake or not but if he is he may call in just a bit.

Hope you find it. My daughter shot a buck that dropped ,layed there for few minutes then jumped up and ran off. We looked for hours to no avail. My son shot the same buck the next day when he came kinda limping by...turned out she hit it in backstrap and barely clipped a piece of spine. There was zero blood when he dropped. It was craziest thing I've ever seen. I know it's frustrating , but if she hit vitals yal will find it dead.

They will goto water if gutshot to try and break fever.

Wounded deer also tend to go downhill

If you can't get dogs I would get a blacklight. It works just like in the movies.

LRoy, well at least you have some good evidence now! If you can line up where he was when the shot was taken with the spot you found blood, you can use that as a good line of travel to start with.

Make sure you look waist high all the way to the ground for blood, a high shot will of course bleed high and may be easier seen on leaves and such, A;so keep aware of hair/fur on upper sticks branches. Good pools of blood usually indicate he stopped to rest or bed.

Now you have blood and his tracks to use to your advantage, wish you luck. You will be a better "tracker" after this.

On a light note, purely "humor" and not trying to deflate your circumstances, just trying to laugh out some of the panic. If all else fails, check the Hospital, it would be worth a million $$ to see the look on their face when asked "Did y'all have a buck come in with a gunshot wound?"
