Uh-oh.... Here we go... Nice buck came out of the creek on the far side about 600 yards. Hope he makes his way this direction.

Tall 8 at the feeder. Looking through night scope. It looks like the one I saw earlier.

Sat until about 7pm, one more doe that I am almost certain was an axis came through the tall grass. The grass is so tall in the pasture I could only see her when she put her head up - but I THOUGHT I could see the white throat patch of an axis.
Checked a cam that I put out on the "axis highway" in the "10 acre wood" off of my hide/feeder. TONS of axis/WT on cam - and here's the funny thing - they come through at 8:30a, 10:30a, and 3:30pm. It funny, because these darn critters walk through this path not 70 yards from my popup and I never know, because I can't see that deep into the woods. Apparently, they have been side-stepping just around me.
Might try sitting the brush just off that path tomorrow after my morning sit in the stand.
One of the whitetail is shooter 10pt, and one of the axis is a monster.
Time to catch a few hours sleep before hitting again in the morning.

One young 7pt and one doe who was too cautious to come in. Saw some deer moving through the brush about 600 yards away on their way maybe to the axis highway. Going to change locales and setup an ambush hide to pull a Romo (interception)

Cannot catch a break. If I woulda stayed in my jeep this morning, I could have brained an axis with my car door - as those damnable axis walked right past where I parked.
Oh well, WT are probably through for the morning, but the turkey should come in after 9:30a - and an axis could show at any time.
I'll wait until 11a before breaking for errands.

Very slow this afternoon, but about 4:30 saw two axis come out of the creek bottom about 500 yards away on the neighbor property. They popped up, poked around, and then headed back down to the creek. A few minutes later I heard the neighbor shoot and whack of a hit. Followed by a second shot. I figured they got em both. The landowner texted me and said "be ready, if they missed they often circle back and coming tearing across the pasture along the south fence. He called it perfect and I was ready. A lone axis came running through like a bat outta hell. Followed him in the scope and when he got at about 200 yards just before heading into the trees, I let loose with a perfectly timed shot and he crashed forward and disappeared into the 3ft tall grass. Watched and didn't see him cross fence or get into the woods. I get lucky sometimes and do everything right. Sometimes. Got him quartered and iced down. Now the second part of the trifecta. Whitetail buck in the morning. Gonna need more luck, cause the bucks on the hit list haven't showed in two days.
