The Cattle Baron Café in Abilene makes a pretty good chicken fried steak. On Monday's it is their special.

I thought the Broken Spoke was a dance hall? I think I spent three days there one night. Haven't been there in about 10 years, though. I have had really good CFS at Threadgill's in Austin, though. It's not a HUGE CFS, though, but very tasty. And their sides are really good. Not sure what the difference is, but I like the CFS at the George's Back Porch, Back Deck, Back Door, or whatever it's called out in Hewitt/Lorena than the one in Waco. Both are good, though.

On a side note, every mexican food place in that small town has a old picture of a creepy lady hanging close to the cash register in everyone of the places? Anybody have any clue why?

She owned the "El Paraiso" I can't remember her name but she was old 20 years ago. I used to eat there 3-4 times a year and she was always there.

Best 2 chicken fried steaks I have ever had are Z'tejas in Austin and Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls.
Z' Tejas is a chicken fried ribeye steak.

If you make it through East Texas try Bertha's in Maydelle and Barb's Too in Rusk. Both are great and plenty of CFS.

I just read this thread and surprised at how many people have been to Mary's in Strawn. Their steak is really good and so are their plate of chicken gizzards. I just wished they served mashed taters. Mary's serves mashed potatoes. A bit starchy but pretty good.

To be determined
