I've seen the Warthog at some shows, never used one but had a guy demo with one of my work knives, worked VERY well. I have a Lansky that I like, when I stops working I will switch to a Warthog

If you want a stone and you're patient, I suggest the Dans EZ hone arkansas stone.

If you want a stone, don't get an Arkansas stone, or if you do insist on an old fashioned stone I'll sell you my high dollar stones. What you want is a DMT Diamond Plate. You need a medium grit and a very fine grit. They come in many sizes, and I have the ones that are 3 by 8 inches and use them for sharpening woodworking tools (chisels and handplanes). For hunting knives, you don't need the big plates. They sharpen extremely fast and well and they never dish and they never wear out. When you're through sharpening, wash the plate in soapy water and dry it and you're done. Much much better than Arkansas stones.
Again, if anyone wants some really great Arkansas stones in 3 different grits (one being super fine), I will sell them at a reasonable price. I have no need of them for woodworking or knife sharpening ever again. Each stone is in a nice walnut box. I think they are 2.5 inches by 8 inches. They are what once was called 'the good stuff' till I discovered diamond plates.

I have had good results from the Warthog. Very simple and reasonably quick

For better or worse, I have diamond stones.
That work sharp is pretty attractive, though.
