The only opinion for pens around feeders is keeping the hogs out, otherwise if you like shooting hogs and don't care as much about harvesting deer, no need to put pens around your feeders. I hunt WT and use feeders to attract and hold does and if you don't have these feeders penned, then the hogs will visit 24/7 and the deer will stay away, especially the does and especially the does with fawns as fawns are a favorite meal for a big old pig.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

IDK...
Based on the poop I saw, it seems they come in from east to west, and leave the same way... if that's true, at least i'll see em coming. l ahhh, the ol poop method to tell direc, tion of tra vel, the pointed end tells direction of travel, good tip.

hmm, pens around feeders, used ta put the small brick type acorn, apple, & corn flagored small blocks on ground dig shallow hole were top was level, works great, deer will paw &break off small chunks, it more natural same with bigger 25lb blocks for deer. last several years been putting them ab ove reach of the hogs, deer slowly get used to it. Aif hog carring a desease, that hear about, lease chance of it spreading ta the deer. oh, still not alot of movement here.

I thought penned feeders were the norm. Most places have some sort of livestock that you will be paying to feed without a pen. If not then hogs.
Never used photoshop and never will. Photoshop is for liberals.

I've been hunting on the Eastland / Comanche line for ten seasons. My game cameras show tons of deer feeding all night long. The only day feeding seems to happen in September and October. After that if I don't catch them moving during the first 30 minutes or last 30 minutes of legal hunting time I probably won't see anything at all. It's some hard hunting but sometimes I get lucky.

Try sticking a camera on a trail or put your camera on plot watcher (takes pics every 1, 3 or 5 minutes) overlooking a foodplot. If you don't/can't do a foodplot, try dumping a bag of corn on the ground (no feeder). You will be surprised at how many more daytime deer pics you get. Like this:

Not liking your response! Are you near cisco? Edit: nevermind - you're south of me! They follow the moon, this weekend is no moon stay all day! get used to it in that area. I hunt in stephens county and have very few daylight deer pics. Other than summer activity and the rut, most deer in that area are very nocturnal...the rest only go nocturnal on the weekends

We had a big bag of nothing come in, until Sunday AM at about 3:45 AM, I think we had the 3 sluts till about 530, and then a single pig at 5:55.
I was so frustrated, I slept in, and glad I did.
