I just came across a doe with a fawn with spots. Just curious if anyone else has seen this. I was thinking this was a little late. Saw this east/south east of Ozona. confused

It is common in South Texas and they can be seen in many areas around the state. Late breeding does due to bad buck to doe ratios or early born doe fawns being bred in the late season are a couple of the reasons why you see them.

its fairly common in north texas as well. Those are usually the ones that do not make it through winter due to predators or the winter months during a tough winter. I have seen them so small in December they might make a pot of soup but good eating.
