LMAO! I thought it was a spam message. In the past ive used one made from plywood. It looked like an outhouse. An old bbq pit with 6 inch sheet metal tube running to the bottom of the smoker. Inside had notched 1x2s screwed into both sides of the inside. Had metal rods that fit in the notches. hung the sausage on the metal rods. It was roughly 8 foot tall and 4 foot square.

Was it on the bare ground or a pad?
Big ones line-up, little ones bunch-up

A pad I guess. It just sat on the patio. It didn't get hot enough to matter. The base was made from a pallet with plywood on top. It had 5 inches of clearance from the patio.

As long as it holds smoke and heat in, it don't matter how you build it, or what it looks like. I build mine a few years ago. It's 4x4x7 ft tall. I can hang about 100lbs of links in it. Instead of a firebox, I use a propane burner inside (bottle outside) with a large stainless steel pot on the burner. I put wood chips or chunks in the pot. Put the lid on the pot, but leave it cracked open a bit. Light it up, and let it do it's thing! With the lid on, the wood can't can't enough oxygen to burn, so it just smolders and smokes.... Works like a champ!
