Sat out there for 3.5 hours and the only gobble I heard, was from my gobble call. I have to work today, otherwise I'd still be out there.
If you are ever [in] Big Sandy and need medical treatment, I would go to the vet.

HUH? why are you using a gobble call in the fall? birds wont come to that? you need to find the roost, let the birds fly down then run in a bust up the flock then use puts & clucks with key key runs to call the birds back to you

I've read purrs, clucks, and kee-kees can bring a hen flock back together; and a gobble call can bring toms back together. First year I've gone for them in the fall so I'm still learning.
And again, I need to find some turkeys first. All I saw were a few cottontail rabbits (didn't shoot them). A guy I talked to when I was packing up said he'd been out there for 7 years and never seen turkeys where I was hunting. Time for some more scouting.
Three hours in the woods beats three hours at work any day.
If you are ever [in] Big Sandy and need medical treatment, I would go to the vet.

where are you hunting? the LBJ grasslands? if so there has been a sharp decline in the turkey population over the last 5 years! I would say at least 80% of the birds we had there 5 years ago are gone.....

It's one of those "yeah, I got a fall gobbler once" type things for me.
Beats being at work, or with the tailgaters around the duck pond.
If you are ever [in] Big Sandy and need medical treatment, I would go to the vet.
