I hope maybe there is someone that can help my friend and I! The turds at Camp Bullis on the military range informed us we will not be able to hunt whitetail opening day and possibly not till the 29th of November I'm assuming backlash from the Government shutdown!!! My time is coming to an end being stationed in the great state of Texas since I leave for good the first week of December. I'm devastated, I've spent a ton of money on the lease, feeder, feed, and all the other bells and whistles!!! Depressing what's a military guy have to do to hunt a buck!! So my buddy and I wanted to try duck hunting. Is there anyway around San Antonio we can go??? Medina, Canyon lake???? Were a couple of military guys trying to hunt!!! I scouted out all of these places with no luck!!! Anything you can tell us would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to hunt for some meat, anything before I leave the great state of Texas.

First off I probably wouldn't call them turds, the fellas at outdoor rec have ZERO control over hunting dates. As stated in the e-mail you received from them TRAINING comes first and foremost (this was also in the hunting guide that you should have read prior to putting in for the lotto stand draw).
This has nothing to do with the Government shutdown. Congrats on getting a stand in the draw, but I have to ask if you knew you would not be here for the entire season and utilize your stand to its maximum possibility then why did you pick a gun stand?
If you had read the hunting manual or asked the fellas at the ORC you would have known prior to that rifle very rarley gets to hunt opening weekend and it usually isn't till around Thanksgiving (when most troops are on pass) that rifle gets its first hunt.

Granted, I talked with outdoor rec and the reason I was given was not of that of training but more of pure laziness on there behalf. PKP I appreciate you being such a fan of mine to post on everyone one of my posts. I only wish YOU read the handbook and maybe if you knew how to schedule ranges on Camp Bullis which you clearly don't you would know that you don't have to shut all hunting down for a total of 4 grid squares being used!!! So instead of blasting all of my posts you can meet me Monday morning on TA-8 and I will teach you how to do some Land Nav so you get a better understanding how to prep a hunting area.

well I do know how the range schedule works with the hunting out there and I've also seen it when they attempted to only open area's that were not supposed to be affected by training, only to have troops move through the area anyway. So since then they have tightened the rules up a bit.
I posted on all of your posts to enlighten just as many folks as you did by starting so many....
I see no reason to call folks turds on multiple posts, and I didn't lose anything or get lost so no need for Land Nav (I'm fine with my capabilities here and teach that also) and it really holds zero bearing on hunting area prep out there.

I bet, You most likely are one of the TURDS from last year that screwed it up for everyone this year!! I will call them Turds because that is what they are and since your such of fan of them maybe you fall under the same realm. Also rocket if you had such a solid idea of how the range scheduling works you would understand that the ranges are broken down by areas that are grid squares which the training occurs for each day. I'm sure you do one heck of a job leading keyboard warriors on your end so I'll keep the facts I have and you keep your lame signature block. If you feel the need to inform me on all of your great knowledge go ahead and send me a PM and then we can set up a meet and greet at Bullis this week.
