For the last 5 years I've been using my old cowboy 45-70 with home rolled ammunition.
I just love to watch them get knocked off their feet and no tracking, just drive up and load them.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Son - Remington 700 .25-06 with 120gr Sierra HPBT hand-loads
Wife - Winchester 70 Featherweight 243 WSSM with 85gr Sierra HPBT hand-loads

Me - Either my Winchester 70 .25-06 with the Sierra HPBT hand-loads, or my Winchester 70 Coyote 25WSSM with 110gr Nosler AB hand-loads. I'll also bring my 6.8SPC with a magazine full of Fusion ammo, and my Winchester 94 30-30 with 160gr Hornady LeverEvolution.

Dang, I hope we have room to bring food with all of these guns!

Ruger M77 in .308 launching Hornaday 150gr SST. Last year was first time playing with this equipment. 5 deer taken, none took a single step. DRT. Gotta love the performance of the round from 30' to 300 yrds.

Looking forward to Saturday. Y'all have fun and be safe.

Archery only this year so I'll still be carrying my bow on opening day. Then my 30.06 when I head south.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
