Howdy,

Can anyone who lives in the San Saba area let me know how much rain you had yesterday/today. Planning on heading down for the gun opener and just wondering what to expect. I heard Austin took it pretty bad...

Thanks in advance for any info.

I doubt it was too much. If so my buddy would have called to tell me how much the creek came up and if the hunters would be able to cross it or not.

A couple of weeks ago it hit pretty hard when I was there. I crossed the creek on foot one morning came back mid day and had to back track to the county road and circle around. A few hours later and we didn't even want to try driving across the county road the water was so high.

We are at the southern part of the county though. Sometime one end gets hit hard and the other doesn't get a drop.

Thanks for the info.

We have a similar situation on our place. If it rains too much we end up using the 4-wheelers to get everything to camp. It's a big pain in the arse but better than getting the trucks stuck.

Check out the LCRAs Hydromet? They have rain gauges all over San Saba County.

http://hydromet.lcra.org/full.aspx

This will take you to their water shed map, San Saba County isn't too hard to find with the river being the north and east side of the county,in the Lake Buchanan Basin

In the drop boxes on the left go down to "Select Hydromet data to display" and pick "Rainfall-Past 24 Hours". As you will see they got squat for rain. Once you find a weather station near where you are looking, remember the station number and it is easy to get back.
