I have nothing but great respect for our wounded vets but, those of us who are not vets but mobility limited seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I agree with mikel H, not taking away from wounded vets. But people born with a disability do get lost in the shuffle.

There are hunts available for both physically challenged people & wounded vets. You have to travel for some of them, but they are out there.

texassmoker,
No one is saying they are owed anything. My son is a veteran and as I said earlier, I have the utmost respect for their service. I understand the danger they volunteered for as I believe did they. Firemen, policemen, game wardens and many public servants volunteer for jobs to face threats. I feel the point of the comments was not that handicapped individuals feel they are owed anything, it is that we are not accepted as capable by those who have not had to fight our battles.

Wheelz is the man... Many of us with disabilities would not hunt at all if it wasn't for efforts of people like Wheelz & 1happyhunter, Drew Maginnis, Mike Cranford and many others. Thanks All!

I have read this 2 or 3 times and I see know way Mike you said anything out of line. Yes I take my hat off to all our veterans and to all they did for us.the ones that got hurt my heart goes out to y'all. I'm a disabled hunter myself and if I could went and serve my country I would have. But we still l to hunt.

texassmoker - I don't see where anyone "came after your vets." You can PM me if you want to argue the point. It seems everyone in this thread is on the same side and no one needs to be offended any further. God bless America and all its people!

I am not sure how you are inferring I am coming after your vets. I thought they were America's vets and did not realize they were your persopanl possessions.

I understand where texassmoker is coming from. I hope that whoever is disabled and would like to go hunting and DESEARVES IT gets to go, but for Wheelchairdude27 to say " Finally someone is doing something for physically challenged people and not just wounded vets." seems to me like your taking a shot at vets because you think they are getting preferential treatment or maybe they don't deserve as much as you THINK they are getting. I happen to be a disabled Marine veteran that fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the grunts on the front line and I have friends who fought with me that were not as lucky to get to come home and maybe get a CULL BUCK hunt which is obviously not a good enough hunt for you Wheelchairdude27. Maybe you should be thankful that someone wants to take you on a CULL BUCK hunt because that is what most of these veterans are getting to go on and I don’t see any of them on the forum complaining about it. I also want to make sure that before what I say next gets taken out of context. I am very grateful for our Fireman, Policeman, Game Wardens, and public servants as I am a Fireman myself and have friends who served with me who now work 3 of the 4 listed occupations stated, but for Mikel H to compare our veterans, especially our wounded veterans who have fought on the front line to them is absurd. You find me someone in those four job occupations listed above that are taking fire from automatic weapons, mortars, IED’s, and snipers 3-4 days a week and I’ll take them hunting for a trophy whitetail on my dime. My friends and I have been through situations that would make most of you talking on this subject $_!T the bed. So please think twice the next time you start throwing “wounded vets” in one of your sentences as a lame attempt to get a hand out because you DO THINK SOMEONE OWES YOU SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. I’m almost sure if you would have said “ I think it’s great that someone is doing something for physically challenged people” and left the last part off no one would be offended.
