He leased based on the fact he could take his kids! Now they changed it mid-flight. I think that's BS and I would have pulled out too. And I'm sure it got heated after the LO pulled this chicken----- move. Ya it's his land but I say whatever. This isn't a good thing to do.

I would demand a refund, and if he refused to refund and still refused to let your little girl come out then I'd skip the season and file a civil law suit. Uou been hunting there for 5 years with your little girl. He can't surprize you with a rule like that on the day you show up, with your child. That is a bunch of bull.

My kid was sitting in the room when he said kids were no longer allowed. The land owner has become a very shady person in the last 6 months to everyone on the lease. The heated discussion was something that has been coming for a while, last night was just what broke the camels back.

Could be more to the story if hes been acting weird for awhile. Like more money offered.

X2, especially if it is in the lease contract that kids can hunt with the parents. If it is stated in the contract, and the landowner changes the rules after you paid, he is in breech. Get your $ back, or tell him honor the contract. If he does not honor it, take him to small claims court to get your $ back.

All the details are out, this blind sided me last night. I have been told i will be given my money back and i have been in contact with the other members of the lease and i may not be the only member to get off the lease do to the new rule.

The LO was hunting with us also. I am not sure what happen on the trip this summer with the other kid that made them come to this decision. I was just told it was because the other kid was annoying. We did not have a written agreement (mistake on my part) but we did have a verbal agreement about the kids being allowed. The LO could have went about this a bunch of different ways. I could understand no kids opening weekend or something like that but to say one week before opening weekend that kids are no longer allowed is total BS

That's was I was thinking. Probably they had things to do and were upset because they weren't going to leave unattended strange children in their house. And probably wasn't the first time.

I would hunt, take my game as opportunity presented itself and move on. There are plenty of weekend hunts to take a kid on for this year. I realize camp and stuff makes the package but it's their place, their rules. No place we lease lasts forever.

Was there a contract or agreement between LO and hunters? Have never seen a contract that doesn't mention kids( either way). If kids were allowed on paper, then he is in breech of contract and will have to pay your money back. If it was a verbal agreement, then chalk it up to lesson learned. Always get a written agreement!!

This is interesting. In the end it's the landowners rules, don't matter the time. Take it or leave it.
I don't think I would have had a heated discussion about it, would have asked some questions and seen if you could have worked something out about bringing your kid once or twice during the week without the other hunters there. Then after this year just tell him you would be leaving if the no kid policy is still in effect.
I think if you could have kept a cool head something could have been worked out or gave it a few days then go back without your kid and talk adult to adult about it.

I'm sorry you can no longer take your daughter to the lease. Don't agree with the owners decision but I think with less than one week left till opening morning unless I could get my money back I would definitely be hunting this year and would find another one next year.
