Shoot 25-06 SST...most things drop in my scope...All energy is absorbed and usually looks like a blender went through the chest cavity...

Again thanks for the replys!!! I got a good starting point.

Dogman out!!!!!!

Nice use of !!!!. We're are trying to help. No one is saying to carry two different rounds. Just understand how your bullet works that you choose. One bullet will not work for everything.

You also started out with a broadside deer and now it was quartering. Sounds like a solid would have ended up in the guts.

Bo,

I think I thanked everyone for their replys. I actually stated I learned a lot as well. I also stated that originally I only considered bullet speed and bullet coefficient when choosing my cuurent round. I thought fast and straight was all I needed. I stated that now know I need to consider other aspects as well.

FYI Looked at the interbond from Hornady. Looks like they suspended making for awhile.

Thanks again for the responses.

I have good luck with the Sierra Gameking series in all calibers. I killed a buck with the mini14 in Oklahoma last year. 65 grain 223 was a double lunger that passed thru and actually dropped him in his tracks. That was at 50 yards.

The Nosler accubond and Swift sirocco are of the same construction technique as the interbonds give them a look. The accubonds are very popular and you should be able to find them.

The Fusion bullets don't cost a lot, and have always put deer down for me. I shot a 185 pound deer last year, with two pass throughs!

I also like the Barnes bullets.

I shot the SST in my .270 for a couple of seasons, even got some good deer with it. Like one of the others said, it usually looked like a blender worked through the chest cavity. My complaint was the lack of blood trail. I usually make lung shots so a little tracking is not uncommon and I like a good trail to follow. For that reason, I switched to Partitions and have been very happy with the performance. I've shot Accubons in other calibers as well and like the was they perform too.

I love partitions. They are the perfect combo of deform easily yet hold together when the going gets tuff.

I may have misinterpreted your other post. A lot of people get on here to blame the bullet. Might also look at nosler's lr accubond if your looking for high BC. It is probably softer then the original accubond.

Don't see a reason to ditch polymer tipped bullets, plenty of them are designed to stay together. If it stopped in the ham, and you didn't shoot it in the ham, then you got decent penetration. That said, the Nosler Partition is a darn good game bullet. Not particularly accurate, but at 40yds I doubt you can tell the difference. Don't know if they're still the same, but in the old days the front half was made with little or no antimony, so the still opened up at low velocity or on thin skinned game, yet the back half still got plenty of penetration.
