Does anyone make a 12" to 14" aluminum handguard that is lighter weight than the Noveske NSR?

13.5" (7.9 oz)

Midwest industries SS series 12.625" rail weighs in at 9.3oz with barrel nut compared to the NSR 13.5 at 11oz. They also have a 15" rail that is 10.9oz still lighter than the 13.5" NSR.

BCM will release their keymod rail soon and it is advertised as lighter than the NSR. Those are about the lightest

I have both the 12 and 15" mi gen 2 handguards and really like them. They are light, narrow and feel great in the hand.

Do you know when it is supposed to be released?

Do you know how much the BCM keymod is going to run? I'll probably be moving to the 9" CMMG keymod when I finally get my tax stamp in for my 10.5" barrel.

They have a 14" version but it is about 2oz heavier than the 13.5" NSR, but .5" longer and about $100 cheaper. Also no proprietary tools needed, just the regular castle nut wrench for your extension tube.

Pictures, videos and descriptions. Saying last quarter 2013, by end of year.

I don't know if any of you have seen it yet, but AR15.com just came out with a new builder program. Lots of parts to swap out and stuff.

This is my future SBR as soon as my stamp comes in.

Will be nice for the CMMG keymod to be as thin as the upper itself. Lol think my suppressor will be the widest part on the gun.

I really like the MI Gen2 SS-Series handrail as well. It's a bit slimmer than any other free float I'v handled, a feature I really like.

Someone told me recently Seekins made one of the lightest handguards. Maybe check their website.

I went with the 12". I love it. Completely changed the feel of my rifle.

One problem I found while looking for the right handguard, is manufacturers are making them so small due to the demands of the consumer, many are too small (I.D.) to fit a suppressor inside them on a SBR.

The 'SR' in the Seekins MCSR stands for Suppressor Ready so they are good to go if you plan on putting a can on.
