I don't like packing and not looking forward to the 1500 mile drive but never the less it has to be done so look out Montana here I come. Making the solo trip to Sidney starting early in the AM and as I load the jeep I look down at my pack frames and know how much work will be involved when I have it loaded and I'm humping it up a mountain with quarters tied on and cold mountain air burning my lungs. Hoping the granola I ate three hours earlier holds up and I can get to the truck before dark or a wolf eats me. I love this stuff but just wanna be there already. Who's headed where in the next week or so?

Don't worry, regardless how many times you check things over, you'll still forget something.
For me "going out of town" I am still here in Texas, just in a different town.

I never hate packing and driving when heading on a hunting trip! It is the packing and drive home I hate. Good luck.

I stay packed, I have everything I need always ready to go at a moments notice.

That's a good plan but I don't take the same stuff everywhere I go. Last week in New Mexico I had no use for pack frames and this trip I need a lot warmer clothes plus fishing gear.

Thanks. I guess I stink or something cause I found myself alone on this one. Actually my brother is going to Ohio, my FIL is in Michigan, kid can't take off school that long, and the only other guy I hunt with and that's once a year is flounder fishing so its me. It ain't the first time Ive done it the driving just sucks by yourself.

I enjoy the packing too. I spent about an hour today doing the preliminary packing for my Nevada elk hunt. I've found that if I pack around a week ahead of time, I tend to remember more and forget less. That said, long ago I made up several packing lists for various hunts: African list, Alaska list, Sheep list, Rocky Mnt list, goose hunting list, etc.....

It's the unpacking that I dislike!

Plus I love packing for trips. That means its almost here! That's like saying I hate buying tickets to a cruise or something!
