Well, I think I have everything ready. My 10 yo daughter's first real deer hunt will be this weekend. I've hunted all of my life, but do yall have any tips for me for this weekend?
Thanks,
Clint

If she's happy with the deer, then it's a trophy.

Silver spurs and gold tequila
keep me hanging on.
Pretty girls and old cantinas
give me shelter from the storm.

Be patient with her and make it fun no matter what. Reassurance for a kid is crucial and when they do take a shot it will be a more confident and relaxed shot. I am at work offshore til Thursday so I have been sending my 2 daughters random pics of bucks and hogs in different shooting situations to make sure that they know what the correct call is to make. They passed with flying colors. Memories Last A Lifetime! Good luck to your daughter.

This is what I did with my son last year, makig sure we knew ahead of time where to shoot, when to shoot and how to shoot. Makes a big difference because when animals are out is not the time to be explaining where to hit them or why we aren't taking this one etc...

Above all, have fun and good luck!

If you can scout out a place where she can get an easier shot, it will help with her confidence and nerves. I had a couple of blinds where I knew my daughter was likely to see several deer and i put some corn between the blind and feeder to make the chance of an easier shot pretty good. Tell her every little thing you have learned from the time you get ready, walking to the blind, setting up, watching deer behavior, gun safety, etc... Be patient and just pass on all you know. This may sound obvious, but be sure she goes to the bathroom right before the hunt. Getting in the blind and having your daughter needing to pee 30 minutes later will end the hunt prematurely. They can't just take care of business like us boys. Remember her favorite snacks and be ready to hand over your phone so she can play games while things are slow. Hope you guys have a blast!

That's awesome! Have fun! Be patient and make it fun no matter what happens so she will enjoy it and want to do it again. Best of luck to your daughter! Take pics and share with us later. It's going to be cool so keep her warm. Take potty breaks or be prepared for that to happen. It will not ruin the hunt. Have fun smile

X2 on snacks and drinks.Kids are kinda restless, more so when theyre exicted.A phone game or book can get them through slow spells of just sitting. As they get older they can sit longer and concentrate more because they know what to look for.1st time shoot the first easy shot you get. Then after a few does and spikes, theyll ask for a buck,my son did,and you can teach the finer points of hunting.

She'll feed off your emotions whether its walking through the dark or the moment before the shot; be confident, be patient. Point out all the little things- stars, moon, clouds etc. Be prepared for encouragement in an otherwise discouraging situation- nothing seen, miss or bad shot. Most importantly, have a great time!

The thrill is in the hunt, but maximized by success. You define success.

Take a Ipad or Iphone with earbuds, this will keep her quietly occupied during Idle times. You do not want them bored and thinking it's not fun right out of the gate. Just make sure the divice is not the dominating focus, they get plenty of electronics time at the house. Make sure she has fun, and it will be fun for you.

Warm clothes! Bring xtra cold weather gear even if they or you don't think they will need it. They will be asking you for it.

Let her decide when to shoot. Don't put any pressure on her and only stay as long as she wants to. It will be a lot easier to get her to hunt with you next year. I can't wait til 4:00 tomorrow so we can head out.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.
