I've scheduled a hunt near Kerrville from 30 Sept to 3 Oct. Doing some research here, I've tentatively decided on the following restaurant rotation, Buzzie's BBQ, The Cowboy Steak House, and Mamacita's. Any alternative suggestions? keeping in mind steak, BBQ, and Mexican. I had heard the El Sombrero but it is apparently closed.

Broken Arrow Ranch in Kerrville. Saw it on Bizarre Foods America. Looked fantastic!

Mamacita's Restaurant & Cantina is pretty darn good eats. If you want a steak drive over to Fredericksburg, Texas to try Friedhelms Bavarian Inn, but it is pricey.

I like the Cowboy Steakhouse. If you are there on a Sunday the Inn Of The Hills has an AWESOME brunch!

I have lived in Kerrville for 35 years. Stay away from Mamacitas unless you like Velveeta enchiladas and yankeized tex mex. No real mexican food there anymore it has been made bland for the yankee retiree population. Go to Del Norte instead - a local secret. Been here over 40 years and has good traditional tex mex. Buzzies is great but remember to ask for the marbled brisket and ribs off the big end. Cowboy steakhouse ok also. China town is pretty good for a Chinese break from the others and Del Norte is also a local secret for fried catfish and american food. Billy Genes also ok for traditional american food. Fried shrimp and grilled flounder is great at La Fours.
Broken arrow ranch is not a restaurant. They have a place in Ingram where you can purchase the wild game, but nothing prepared.

Mary's Tacos on Broadway for breakfast tacos.
Big vote for Alamo Springs Cafe...not Kerrville but worth the trip.

I'll definitely keep Del Norte in mind I want true Tex-Mex. I'm driving 1200 miles each way I'm not going to be doing any road trips for supper while there.

If YO Restraurant is still open, it's pretty good but otherwise, Kerrville is a disappointment food wise in my opinion.
Don't talk the talk if you didn't walk the walk.

The restaurant at the YO Hotel is still good. Del Norte has good home style Tex-Mex basic not fancy. The Cowboy Steak House is good, slightly upscale, my steak was cooked exactly to my order. Buzzies is good basic BBQ nothing fancy.

Not sure if I posted this before, but Fuddruckers took all of their mounts down in the party room. Pretty plain looking now, but the view of the river is still nice if you sit outside.

Make the trip to Fredericksburg and go to the Buffalo Nickel. Great steaks and burgers.
