In two weeks I'm going to shoot an elk cow. Is my 257 weatherby ok with a 110 accubond ? I have a weatherby 300 as we'll but would like to use my new 257 if possible.
Thanks

Roy used it on a Cape Buffalo in the 1960s.
It will work fine.

People shoot them with arrows. A rifle is way better, do it.

It's just depends on shot placement my friend, personally I like to watch skilled bow hunters but I have no skill with one whatsoever!!

I have shot an elk with a 243. its all about placement. Same with a bow. If you can shoot it well then use it. If you can shoot the 300 well then use it.

Thanks With that bullet it will do fine on elk, have seen it done on some good bulls shot through the heart and/or lungs works great with it

Thanks guys for all the responses. I took the 257 out yesterday, switched to the Weatherby 120 Gram Partition and hit the bullseye 5 out of 7 times. I'm ready!! Now just have to wait less than two weeks before we go.
Thanks again,

You will be fine and then some; I also think you will be surprised at how effective it is because your shooting an animal large enough to put enough resistance to the bullet for full performance of the projective before exiting.
My personal favorite for the .257wby is the 100gr. TSX; but the partition is a excellent choice as is the Accubond.
I have shot large hogs in the shoulder with all 3 bullets and the combination of speed, tough bullet and enough flesh and bone to make the bullets expand....makes for some rather impressive results you wouldnt think would come from a .25cal
Roy Weatherby said... "If you have a .300wby & a .257Wby you have just about everything of earth covered."
I own both and I think he was right.

Thanks again, alaska cub killed a caribou with a 257wby 100gr tsx at 425+-yards I've killed a cow elk with 25-06, wife took an Oryx with 80gr ttsx 257wby(passtru both shoulders) A guy last year took a real nice gemsbok in NM with 25-06 think shot was around 300

When I was at the range on Sunday, I seemed to get better groupings with the 120 Partiion than the 110 accubond. Strange? Could have been me, who knows. Looking forward to the hunt in 10 days. I will let everyone know how well the gun/bullet shoots.

Dont make the mistake we made, My son shot a Cow elk with his 257 the shoulder at 100 yards and it just stood there. The guide said shoot it till it is not standing anymore. So with a total of 3 shots the cow elk finally fell. All we did was destroy a complete front quarter. One good shot and patience are plenty. All I hunt with is a Mark V 257 Weatherby Mag and I would not trade it for anything.
Happy Hunting 6as
Thanks 6As

I shoot the 110gr accu in my Rem 700. I love it. It will drive tacks. Although I think it is plenty for an elk in most situations, I would personally chose for a larger cal bullet. JMO.
