Less than a mile usually, but not unusual for me to paddle 5 or 6 miles out on a hunt and more. I have had a canoe for almost 40 years, ex swift water rescue, and texas water safari finisher. I enjoy being on the water and don't mind paddling a long way. Beats walking.

That's easy... I stop where the dux are!
How far you paddle depends on the conditions, your skill and your equipment.
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Thanks ob2west.
We typically paddle 3/4 of a mile, but at the coast we would travel up to 3 miles.

Who has seen a yaker (person hunting from a kayak)while hunting?
I saw one yaker 2 years ago. He had milk crates mounted on the yak and had home painted wigeon decoys. He was much faster than we were.

I saw two guys hunting out of their yaks last season. That's what really spurned me to get off my butt and just get one.
