Anyone ever bowhunted there? Saw that the bow season lasts from Oct thru Jan and was wondering if it was worth the trip.

Well worth it. Have to put in the time, try squirrel hunting it that way you can cover some ground, a lot of opportunities to harvest a great deer. I'm drawn for the gun hunt and will let you know how it goes.

love white oak creek ! hunt there a lot....as stated above, i started off squirrel / hog hunting....learned the land !i dont bow hunt though. last week i stumbled across a doe that had been arrow shot , and not recoverd....( too bad ! )she was good sized and looked very nice . last friday i counted 8 doe and one nice six point , while i was hog hunting with my 17 HMR, rimfire.and a couple years back was drawn for a gun deer hunt there....saw some nice bucks harvested and we got several big hogs. GO...LEARN THE LAND ! it will take a few trips to learn the area well, but you will for sure find many places to bow hunt and not be overrun by other hunters, most people i have met there are very nice, respectful hunters!

went to white oak again on friday,,,,squirrel / hog hunting...couldnt find the hogs but slipped up on some great deer ! two really nice eight points that were well out past the ears....no doubt legal shooters ! and saw five doe. two young ones and three full grown. squirrels were far and few between, and i guess they have been trapping the hogs, or they been hunted down a lot, i see a few tracks now n then, but nothing like they used to be. anyway, still love that area, and will keep after em !

I've hunted WOC several years, both gun and bow. Your success there depends on how good you are at "reading" the woods and setting up your stand in a spot where a deer will come by. Of course I suppose thats true of any place a person hunts. Picking that perfect spot in the woods can be tricky though as the area is so big and spread out. And dont leave any valuables in your truck while you're in the woods, thieves, pot growers and meth heads are bad in the area.
