I am looking into mounting a light on a AR-10 for hog and varmint hunting. I wanted to hear some input on which kind of light, Tactical (LED) or Kill light (Laser Designator), and what brands would you suggest.

Thanks

I used a Killlight style light last week in red color to take a hog. They did not spook
You can get different color led thingys and have 3 different colors and a real nice light.
Their are much cheaper options than the Kill light brand

In regards to there being cheaper options for kill lights, thats what I've heard from a buddy of mine. However, I liked what I've heard about the Sniper Hog lights.

There are a few people on this site that sell them. I cant think of all the names. I believe its Mcosi that gets good customer service feedback a lot.
For me its a price game and what you get in the package.

Have a look at these if you can wait the shipping time. If not, the Kill Light is similar, but can be purchased locally.

The best night unit I have ever owned is produced by Elusive Wildlife Technologies, I believe they are located in Tyler. They use Gen 2 Led tech, 10 year rechargeable batteries (two are included in the package and each will run approximately 6 hours of continuous use and plus the LED's run cool), and come with several different light options (white, red, green) if you get the Pro Pack....Their products, service, and customer support is 1st rate. They have one that attaches to a bow, as well. Price very reasonable relative to the nigh t light market. They offer the best quality at the lowest price, that I have found. Check them out.

I have found myself using this light for all my flashlight needs for the last 2 plus years. the 250 version will allow you to shoot in excess of 250 yards with the green lens.

Here's i got, Ultrafire WF-501B. 5 mode: high, med, low, strobe and SOS.

Mine is green, but they sell red, purple, blue, green, white and infrared...

here's the light with a CREE green led
http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10000911/1189402

on that page next to the BUY button is a drop down menu. from that menu you can select a white light, blue light, purple light and red light.

here is a blank host flashlight with no LED:
http://www.fasttech.com/products/160...lashlight-host

and here are the DIY drop in modules (LEDS) you can swap out:
http://www.fasttech.com/category/160...rop-in-module/

just make sure if you are buying the DIY drop ins, you are buying them for the correct flashlight...

These drop-ins makes having a single flashlight or two very versatile wink

Only bad thing, 10 days to 2 weeks for delivery from china. But shipping is free...

I'm really digging mine and hope to put it to some hog use soon laugh

I have a kill light copy in green, have shined my horses, deer, badger, fox, and boar and they don't even pay attention. Cost 35 bucks delivered with the remote pressure switch but no battery. Just shot at a pig about 180 yards away and was able to identify it just fine. Missed unfortunately but no fault of the light. OTH, I also have a laser designator but am not too impressed with. Used it one morning last week to check the horses and they were immediately bothered by it and moved away. Also used it on a night that the temp got down to about 45 degrees and had to warm it inside my shirt to get it to work.

Check out Hogzillalights.com that is mcosi on this forum. I have 2 of his lights, one is green LED I use for hog hunting and the other is the bright white tactical. The green on for hog hunting is very very bright and is like using night vision to hunt. Although I've used a PVS-14 on a hog hunt before, and hunting with this bright of a green light is better and way more comfortable than having a helmet on with a PVS-14 in front of one eye and nothing in front of the other..
