I'm with the bust him now crowd!

If you had more than 500 acres and had more control over the deer's well being I would probably let him walk, but with the size of acreage you have that buck may be on the ground before the sun sets on opening day.
The crossbow idea isn't all that out of the question, especially if you know someone that has one, and would be willing to give you about a 30 minute session on it's use, and loan it to you, you'd be all set.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
