There are those that make it happen! Anybody can get lucky but doing it consistently takes work!

What's the reason behind the control burning?

x2. I figured most was done earlier in the year. Unless those burn photos are from earlier this year.
Any creature in my vicinity that possesses an explosive penis is going to be killed.

Living the dream!
What's the reason behind the control burning? The burn photos where taken the middle of last week right before the rain hit. The areas that we were burning aren't going to be flooded ponds for the opener. They will be flooded for second split or they are for goose hunting. If you can get a good rain right after or shortly after you burn, then all kinds of good vegetation will start growing that geese and ducks love. Obviously we would have rather burned towards the end of Aug, but the conditions weren't right until about a week ago. Our goose hunting in the area where we burned really doesn't get good until mid-late Nov unless we get some really good fronts earlier in season.

Thanks gents.
Controlled burning, discing at the right time of the year and a little help from Mother Nature(rain) and you can naturally produce some awesome waterfowl habitat. It's a year around job though to do it right and if you want to consistently shoot birds throughout season. We work closely with the area DU guys on the when/what/where and each property is a little different. The biggest key to the equation is leasing property that the land owner will allow such work and having access to the equipment to do so. Some of our landowners don't allow as much work to be done to the property, which is fine because they own it and it's a take it or leave it type deal. Our goal is to make sure and control the things that we can(prep-work, gear, etc) to the best of our ability and then Mother Nature takes care of the rest. We can't control the weather or when fronts come through, but we do our best to make sure once they arrive that they don't leave!

Took this video yesterday of a few specks making one of our ponds there home. Hope they won't mind a slight decrease in population come Nov. 2nd!
