i just baught my first trail camera and i think i may have set it up too far from my feeder. its about 25 feet from the feeder and i seems by all of the pics i see on trail cameras on this site that i have it set to far away. so i guess what would be the best distance to place it from my feeder?

25 feet should be fine. What are your pics looking like that makes you think it is too far?

If you put it to close it will give you lots of pics of birds and small animals. I like mine far enough away that only big animals set it off.

My camera was set up maybe 10 foot away on a corner post. I choose this spot not for distance but due to my camera would take a picture every few minuets during the day from the trees moving and shadows. So I set up in a happy medium spot. Plus at night it close enough to get a good look.
If you have a better camera then you can set it farther out and still achieve good photos.

20-25 feet away works best for me, also it seems they work better if they are less than 3 feet off the ground, instead of the recommended 4 to 5 feet.

i might try moving mine up closer to around 10 feet and see how it works for me. i was just worried it might effect the deer being that close to them!

Placed a camera about 10' from the feeder. Some pictures turn out okay; others are whited out because the animal is too close. Camera is made by Moultrie. It takes digital photos and has a slot for an SD Memory Card. Was bought on sale at Bass Pro two years ago for less than $100. Posted a Game Camera Picture slideshow on YouTube that shows activity from 10/06/08 to 11/01/08 for your reference.
