Ok, are we the only ones having problems with SD cards? LOL Why do some of our SD cards from our game cams work and others do not? They all take pictures in the cam but when you take it out and put it in a computer to look at the pics, it sometimes will not read the card and says it needs to be formated. That same card will work sometimes and not other days. I dont know if this makes sense or not. Thanks for any ideas. Chad

I have had this issue in the past. What I did was take the SD card and put it in a digital camera and download pics from camera into computer. I had to reformat my cards everytime I did this. A few years ago some TC like Cuddys would not allow you to use a card from another brand camera in their cameras. I learned to format every card each time so I could use it in my Cuddys or keep seperate cards for each TC. Some TC will only work with PNY, SanDisk or Lexar SD cards only. Some will use any brand. Some will not use HDSD cards or limited storage size SD cards. I use Primos, SpyPoint, and Bushnell now and all use any of the name brand SD cards and HDSD cards also. I can use a card that was in one cameran in another now. I do not have any working Cuddys anymore but they were the worst with SD brands and HDSD cards working consistently.

I had the same issues for several years. I now reformat on the camera if will it do it every time I check pictures and I also dedicate an SD to each camera. These two things have stooped my TC SD issues.

I had problems like that with Moultrie cams years ago. Guess what, I don't use Moultrie cams anymore, lol.

There are actually 4 different SD formats. A newer device will read an older card but an older device will not read a newer card. Google "SDXC" and check out the Wiki.

Exactly..... And the cards will also go bad from one day to the next.... Just had one in the wifes camera that has been used several years for a couple gazillion pictures. Down loaded the pics, emptied the card and put back in camera. Just to have the camera say the card is full. Did the same in several cameras.

Yes, bought two brand new cameras this year and had a lot of problems with getting SD cards to function.

As you stated, some times the cards would work, some times not. My camera showed "FULL" when the cards were not working.

My initial problem was the format on the cards (would up using FAT32 format). Another issue was that I had initially purchased 64 GB cards, which the camera documentation stated would work, but I found to only function less than 50% of the time once in the camera). I have had better luck since I switched to 32 GB cards.

As a general rule, after inserting an SD card into the camera, I wait until I can trigger a photo before I leave the camera. I have had near 100% success using this method.

I now only use SanDisc SD cards. I had problems with some others. And I have only Moultrie cameras, which work just fine for me and have great battery life. And that reminds me that I do need to put new batteries on one of the.

I just have two SD cards for each camera. They are each numbered. I'll swap them out from time to time, run them into the computer and download the pics and then erase the card and put them aside till the next swapout. Pretty simple operation.

Me too. I've found that if I use my scout cam--rather than my laptop--to format the SD card, it functions more reliably. And like someone else mentioned, I like to hang around the camera a bit before I leave to make sure it takes a picture of me. This way I know it's working.

I had the same problems with my Wildgame cameras. I love the cameras but I thought they went bad. Come to find out it was the type of SD card. The Wildgame cameras would not work with an SDHC card, they would only work on the plain SD card(not High Capacity). So I make sure all of my swapping cards are SD only and I haven't had any problems since. Its hard to find an SD card these days that is not SDHC but it just so happens that Wildgame sells some plain jane SD cards if you need some extras.

I had this problem last year with my wgi camera but only when either the batteries went dead or I didn't turn the camera off before removing the card, you might try shutting down your camera before removing it if you don't already

I had the same problem, took 40 pics said it needed to be formatted. It use to work fine. 40 pics I couldn't look at. Frustrating had to get a new sd card.

I have several types of cameras. After I copy the images to my computer, I format them using FAT32. That and I only use Sandisk cards of the correct size for the camera. Mostly 4g & 8g.

I've never experienced a problem reading them.

I do the same thing.

I have two plastic boxes that I carry with me. One is clean SD cards and the other is for the cards that I pull. Stick the pulled cards in the computer,save what I want to the HD and then delete the file. The card then goes back into the clean box. Never had a bit of trouble.

I got a $4.00 SD card case from walmart to store them in.
1. I always format the cards after downloading to computer.
2. I try to use the same 2 cards in the same trail camera each time.

I have two new Primos Ultra 46 cameras. Put new 2 GB SD cards in each one. Checked the cameras last Friday and had 166 photos on one and 44 photos on the other after 6 weeks in the hill country. Replaced these cards with clean ones and went back the next day, only had 3 photos on one and there was no corn on the ground. Instructions say push both buttons for two seconds until the screen says 0000. Did that and still nothing. BTW my older Primos 46 cameras had over 700 photos each set on five minutes. Any suggestions?
