Were in Leon and have fertilized the big oaks around our feeders for the past several years, we have 4-10 deer in our food plot and the oak patch every morning and evening.

what if you have 45 acres of oak trees? well, about 25 of your 45 acres anyway.
luckily mine arent producing good this year though, last year was the bumper crop.

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

luckily mine arent producing good this year though, last year was the bumper crop. Here is a secret of mine. When it snows, I put down the gun/bow and do my best scouting. The tracks will show you their favorite trails and favorite acorn trees. Then, use that knowledge for next year to set up a nice tree stand. I like to set up my tree stands with about 2 or 3 small shooting lanes. This helps hide you. The more hidden the better IMO.

In Bastrop Co. it's like a switch was flipped Wednesday. At my feeder it went from 4-7 deer each morning/evening to zero deer. Can't hunt the oaks because we have literally 10's of 1,000's of oak trees(over 20K acres). Acorns ruined my bow season!!!! Won't bother going back till rifle opener.

Just pick your favorite area of oaks and do some midday scouting. I did this today. Looked at many spots with zero sign under them. Then when I was fixing to leave I found the honey hole! 2 big oaks that had tons of tracks everywhere and also there was a big persimmon tree near by dropping big ripe persimmons. I put up a climbing stand then went back around 4 and saw 5 different bucks and 3 does. It was a great hunt but no shooters.

So glad to see we weren't the only one who were facing that problem. We had deer hitting feeders like clock work morning and evening. And then around the 2nd of this month, it was like someone flipped a light switch and they were gone. The coons aren't even coming as much as they were. Limestone county is just as bad right now

It may not be good for you, but it is for the deer.
