Ok so i need some help. There is a APH hunting permit that can be purchased for 48$. This permit comes with a map and list of places that is open for you to hunt with the permit. Then you have private land that you lease to hunt. i am just learning about the other public hunting that no permit is required for or thats what i gather. So like Conroe for example if you wanted to hunt lake conroe it is public so no permit is required? Or if you wanted to hun the bay not permit would be required? any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. I am refering to duck hunting.

Spend the $48, the map and info will be more than worth your investment of $48. Cheaper than a lease, with a few headaches included but it is hunting.

The APH covers the Texas state lands, the ones shown in the booklet. It also covers federal US Forest Service properties like Sam Houston National Forest. There are some other federal lands controlled by the Corps of Engineers, DOD, etc. that I think require separate permits -- and of course, during the shutdown they're closed.
