I have been tossing around the idea of getting my wife a 20 Gauge. Actually it is more for me, but she says she would go shoot skeet with me if she didnt have to shoot my 12G.
Any suggestions on a good 20 that I could buy (the cheaper the better) that would have low recoil? Or should I just buy a 20 that I like and fix it up with a recoil pad and a muzzle break?
Thats the thing about life, nobody gets out alive.

I think you'd be best off using a 12 ga on her with a full choke. LOL!

I'd get a 870 and put a r3 or limbsaver recoil pad on it.

The lowest recoil of any gun I have seen is the Beneli, sorry for spelling if incorrect. I prefer O/U, but really most all of the 20 gauges are going to feel the same recoil. you can modify the pad if you choose, but I really dont notice the kick and neither do the kids. I can shoot it all day long and still lift a beer at the end of the day, without pain that is. The hardest kicking 20 is my single shot, I had to put an after market pad on it.

remington 1100 20GA if you can find one of the older ones, buy it, they hardly kick at all
You can kill a fly with a sledgehammer.
But do you really need to son?

Give a look at the new 391 / Extrema. Gas operated auto's always have less recoil then a pump and weigh a lot less then an over and under. The new 391's have the built in recoil system in the stock that works very well. I shoot a first version extrema and even with 3 1/2's its not bad. Nice thing about those guns is they eat EVERYTHING unlike some autos. If your in the DFW area take her out to Elm Fork. They have the new extremas for rent so she can try one out......and you can also

Benelli, Monefeltro, Bought one for my wife 8yrs ago. Bought a 12 for myself 3 yrs ago. Dependable, Light, easy to clean, If she don't use it, believe me brother you will! they have gone up in value about 100.00 per year for the last several years.

try reloading too; unlike rifles with shotguns you don't need a bunch of accessories, just a press a charge bar,the "charge" ring, and shell supplies. she would probably be okay shooting a 12 gauge remington 1100 after reloading.

Just bought my 13yr old daughter a Remington 870 20ga youth model...pump action. It has a generous recoil pad and she shoots it better than I can shoot my semi auto 12ga! Dick's Sporting Goods has them for $239.00 after rebate. Good deal in my book for my kid.
