checked on one of my friends feeders this afternoon and it appears it nearly all the corn. Feeder is a All Seasons with 600 lb capacity with a Eliminator plate on it. I opened the unit up to test it I noticed there had been water inside and the control unit had laid in water and was rust discolored. The controller would not power up. Battery is on solar panel. Do you think the rain water caused the control unit to short out and it set there and threw for an long time? I checked the inline fuse and it didn't blow.

The corn is spread evenly inside the pen like it was thrown and not stacked under the feeder like a dump. Naturally the hogs ate everything outside the pen.

thanks for any feedback!

What kind of timer? Was the battery in the timer itself still good? Was the main battery still good?

All seasons unit, 12 vlt battery is only 6 months old and has been hooked to a solar panel. Since the controller would not power up I have to assume the battery is good.

where is all electronic brain trust when you need them?

thanks stx!

If it has "The Timer" in it check the one battery in it to see if it is good. Did you hit the test button?

You say the battery is only 6 mths old but did you test it to be sure had batteries go in that short a period if solar panel not funtioning. Solar panels can short out when their power leads go to ground. they short out a small diode.
If there is no battery in timer unit please check all connections and make sure battery is charged. You can use a volt/ohm meter to test solar panel function and battery voltage

If it was slinging corn before and now it’s not, the first thing I would check is the battery.

Yes, I have had feeders short out and spin until the battery runs out, throwing all the corn.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I don't understand why a controller would have a battery when it is connected to the main power source? For backup reasons to hold the settings? If the main power goes its not going to throw anyway right?

Some timers/controllers are on a seperate battery so they do not loose the setting but it is not enough power to run the motor. Solar panel on a bright day might put enough power in a weak battery to throw some corn that afternoon.

Blueribbon call me in morning. There shouldn't be water in your all seasons control unit. Zach with all seasons feeders 210-288-4777
