I just read this thread and surprised at how many people have been to Mary's in Strawn. Their steak is really good and so are their plate of chicken gizzards. I just wished they served mashed taters. seriously, no mashed taters?! out!

"The Big One" Po Melvin's in Irving It's very big and very good. If you can eat it all, plus the fries, rolls, corn bread and two sides; you get a hat and your picture on the wall of fame. Daaaaaaaaamn that looks good!

Took my son to Norma's off the Tollway, his Chicken Fried Steak was the Worst we have had, I had the Meat Loaf and it wasn't worth a darn. Now I had breakfast at their Oak Cliff spot, it was pretty good, nothing to get excited about. Sorry Ed! Mary's doesn't sell chicken fried steak, they sell garlic fried bologna. Where is your place of birth?

I made the mistake of trying it a second time and it was as bad as the first time. And if you want cooking lessons, call Martha Stewart. I think she knows Mary.

I like Mary's, though it's not what it once was.
I don't eat CFS enough anymore to know what's good or bad as they all taste good to me compared to what I normally eat (I can tell you who has good grilled chicken though).
M&M Steakhouse on NE 28th in Fort Worth used to have a good one and Hoffbrau had a decent one as well. The last REALLy good CFS I had was actually at a mexican food joint over in Arlington, but I can't remember the name. I was hesitant, but a buddy was insistant that I try it and I'm glad he did.
As a sidebar, on my last trip to Mary's I ordered the grilled chicken with steamed brocolli. The waitress made me show it to her on the menu and said no one had ordered it before. I found that pretty funny.

I haven't found "the best" yet but Ernie's Spanish Kitchen in Breckenridge makes a better CFS than Mary's and they don't put enough garlic in it to ward off vampires.

Murphys Steakhouse in Winchester is easily the best I've had yet.
A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Best CFS I've ever had was in Zapata down by Falcon. There's a small restaurant on the North (east) side of 83 right before you cross the lake. It's right behind the little grocery store. Best chicken fried ever!! They have a little twist though. They put homemade gravy AND cheese on it. First time I heard of it I thought cheese on my chicken fried...... No way...... It's actually pretty amazing!

That looks excellent and the gravy looks legit! One summer I owned a VW bus for a couple of months 'till the engine overheated and left me on the side of 635. The tires were smaller than that Chicken fried side of beast in the photo. Holy mackerel!
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.
