Having to end my hunt a day early. Park office here at lake whitney told me everyone has to be out by 8 pm tomorrow. If they lock the boatramps at lake aquilla my season is over until something is worked out. They better get it done before the rut.

You better make sure of that before you do.

All my hunting areas are most easily accessible by water. Area on whitney is only accessible by water.

Scout a walk in area. From what ive heard the hunting areas are not closed at whitney or aquilla at this time but that can change from day to day. If they close the hunting areas they will post signs

"Effective Tuesday, October 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed all Corps-operated campgrounds and day-use parks nationwide as a result of federal government shutdown. We regret the impacts of these required actions on the recreating public, and will make every attempt to inform the public when these facilities reopen."

According to BLM, hunting and fishing is okay as long as you regularly don't have to pass through a manned checkpoint.

Went to lake aquilla this morning. Gates at boatramps closed with sign saying closed due to shutdown.

Couldn't you still use a non manned gate to launch and get to your areas? Not sure how many are open though..

These are non manned ramps. Only two on the lake usable and both corp ramps. Old school ramp had the gate stolen but they had caution tape stretched across gate with closed sign. Guess I will have to find walk in area if they are still letting us hunt.

The walk in areas are still open . If they close they will post signs at the entry points. Thats what coe whitney- aquilla said. Also heard game wardens will be patroling instead of park rangers

Someone on the green screen said that folks who were on the Aransas NWR archery hunt were asked to leave Saturday. He said some were locked out with deer in their walk in cooler. That leaves the question, if they were locked out and the deer went to waste, couldn't the folks who locked them out be held accountable for our state's wanton waste law?

Did what you said trap tried walking in. I realized I have way too much stuff to carry in very far. Found a nice spot over by the state park but did not see anything. End the shutdown or at least open the parks back up.

Does anyone know about Navarro Mills corp property, open or closed? Was really hoping I could get drawn for the youth hunt they have there for my son. It would be his first year as "the hunter".
