Yesterday, I was in the hill country between Luchenbach and Blanco when I saw a half grown badger standing on his back legs on the side of the highway. I turned around and came back to take a picture but he scuttled thru the fence before I got the camera ready. I have seen many of the little nasty buggers when I hunted in Montana and Wyoming but I really thought they were not in Texas. Has anyone else seen badgers in the state

I have seen several on my lease in Clay county, well north of you. I have never been able to get a shot off at one, but would love to take one.

I have also seen the tall-tell signs on badger claws in the dirt at the lease, so I know they are there.

We no need no stinking badgers!

Saw several in San Angelo and Sterling City, one time I missed one and me and rifleman got in a bit fight about it

Used to see them quite often around my neck of the woods. See them hit on the roadway a couple times a year.

I have seen them around the ranch. Did not really care that much to shoot them. Watched it get some water and go on about his life. Very cool to watch them move. I did catch one in a snare. That was a crazy catch.

Have not seen one but would like to. I hear they like to be pet.

All the Badgers in Ohio got beat on this weekend and will be staying in Wisconsin for a while now...

Just had to throw that out there...

I have seen them in Runnels county, but it has been several years since the last time.

I see them in Duval county. Caught one in a snare last weekend. I like to see them so I leave them alone when I can.

We've have a lot of them at our ranch in Carrizo Springs (Dimmit County). We've had a couple set up homes right by our house, and as cool as they are to see, we like our dogs more, so they were relocated. I'll see them when I'm in various blinds around the property, which leads me to believe we have quite a healthy population of them.

They also hunt with coyotes...apparently they dig down into holes and the coyotes grab whatever scurries out. Last season, I saw a coyote making its way towards a very young doe, and I put my crosshairs on him..right before I pulled the trigger, I see this little white thing move just behind the coyote...realized it was a badger immediately. Waited for them to be lined up and pulled the trigger.



Got em both! It was my best shot to date in my 20 years of hunting. The badger dropped right where it was and the coyote slowly went off into the thick brush. Found him the next day and left him there for his friends to see.

Looked it up after I got back to our house and sure enough, they are some studies about them working in unison. It blew my mind. My friends didn't believe me until we found the coyote the next day. Killed a rattlesnake that was just under 7 feet later that night. Quite a day for hunting.

I saw one in my backyard in Wise County. Never seen one before, didn't believe my own eyes. Drank another beer.

Saw a couple while hunting on a friend's ranch south of Hebbronville a few years back.

He said they are quite common but doesn't bother with them.

I snared one just north of Ranger a few years back.

That's crazy.

He was pretty tired by the time I found him. He didn't have much fight left. I kind of wanted to let him go, but decided that trying to might be a little risky.

Killed one several years ago east of Encinal, spent about 2 hrs skinning, caping and salting the goofy thing. Was gonna have it made into a miniature bears skin looking rug. Got up the next morning and it was gone. Woke everyone in camp up banging on doors yelling WTH is my badger. Finally found where coons or sumptin drug it off, never found it just the drag marks for about a 100 yards then lost the trail. It was on top of a 55 gal barrel all stretched out. Never found it and didn't see another one all season.

Only one I've ever seen, it crossed the highway right in front of me as I was driving right by Elephant Mountain.

I saw one that was roadkill on Hwy 114 near Jacksboro.

I had a lease in Upton county for years, and have several up there. I had one big a hole right under one of my feeders.. Heck of a sight seeing dirt fly in the air right after daylight! LOL
