I heard a few shots in east TX this weekend too. I actually do assume they were hog hunting. We are overrun with them.....

We did our share killed 5 with bows. I lifted my usual moratorium on shooting rifles in September they were so bad at the feeders. We slew them. 2 feeders now only have a few coming at night now after the deer have eaten-they learn fast.

Counted 4 shots Saturday morning and 2 Saturday evening at my place. Not nearly as bad as I thought.

I fired 20 or more shots from my porch this weekend. Does that mean I was shooting at a grizzly bear? No.

How can you tell an intended target by the sound of gun fire?

I know how -- only using Internet wisdom!

Were those shots at daylight, sunset or after dark? grin
