Sure was a lot of "hog" hunting this weekend in Nocogdoches Co. 6 single rifle shots opening morning. I bet they were just shooting at coons or something.

Well I'll say that I would definitely have shot at some hogs with a rifle if I would've had one. Hogs are awful this year. I shot at one with my bow that was in a group of 14.

It may have been more hog hunting than you might be willing to believe. After all, if you were headed to the lease to plant a food plot or fill a feeder, wouldn't you consider trying to shoot a hog and get some practice before the general season begins?

If I didn't have things that needed to be done at the farm, I would have been right out there with them just before dawn.

Sometimes it seems bow hunters want everyone to stay out of the woods entirely when "their" season begins.

I didnt have any expectations and I am not much of a bow hunter. We had the same situation last year during "youth" weekend. Lots of single solitary shots. Not multiple shots from the same location such as you would expect from sighting in a weapon.

I don't believe you're hearing as many lawbreakers as you might believe. My experience has always been that poachers are far more likely to take deer during the off season when they know TPWD officers are far less likely to be in the area. Heck, many don't even think about it until a week or two after the season closes.

So you heard 6 shots on opening morning and "East Texas" hunting rumors come to your mind...did you see "poaching" (not HUNTING) taking place ? If so, call the law...drives me crazy (short drive I realize) that someone shows up to hunt East Texas with the attitude that we are all "poachers"...don't hunt over here if you believe it...sir...

So you heard 6 shots on opening morning Yes, that statement is correct.and "East Texas" hunting rumors come to your mindYes, the stigma that has been in place for most of my up-bringing in East Texas did immediately come to mind....did you see "poaching" (not HUNTING) taking place? No, usually only highly specialized state law enforcement agents actually witness poaching from a visual surveillance. If so, call the law Please refer to the statement previous....drives me crazy (short drive I realize) that someone shows up to hunt East Texas with the attitude that we are all "poachers"I did not arrive up with the attitude, the attitude was realized around noon on Saturday...don't hunt over here if you believe itI am only starting to believe the rumors, I have yet to form an official opinion. I will decide where to hunt upon further investigation...sir...the respect is mutual

rick Nice to meet you Rick, my name is Mike.

Mike nice to meet you sir...I don't know where you live but as an East Texan I guess I am too "touchy" about the comments about...crack heads, poacher hunters (no such thing as a hunter that poaches), trailer trash, married to your cousin, East Texans are lazy and dim witted...I would no more call someone from the Metroplex or any urban area an unflattering name or imply a blanket insult...so sir my apologies for my brashness...

Nice to meet you Rick. Lets go hunt some poachers together (I have night vision). Is Canton still considered East Texas? If so, I supposed I still qualify even though I moved up to the Metromess (Rowlett). We got lots of trailer parks, dim witts (some city officials come to mind), and not alot of crack around here, most folks just stick to meth and weed.

I will say I had someone trespassing while I hunted last night. Then caught them afterwards. It was the same guy that stole my trail camera and another guy's feeder. He's mentally retarded and lives in a trailer with his sister. Is that East Texas enough?

I'm going to give you the benifit of the doubt that the original title was more to joke about east texas than to put us down. Want to see poaching go hunt in LA (lower Alabama). LOL!
